WOD 091023

No CFOT today, so I will miss back squats.  Bummer because today I could really use the tension break that moving heavy weights can give.  Planning to run the Goblin Gallop with Erin on Sunday, so all is not lost.

No sleeping in.  Up at 0430 to beat traffic with Christopher to Walter Reed for an MRI.  Given that he has to be absolutely still, he had to be sedated.  No matter how strong inside and out your life and fitness plan makes you, there is nothing worse than watching someone sedate your child.  You make sure the last words you share are good ones, and hope that you get to share some more in a matter of hours.  It doesn't matter that your intellect tells you over and over that this is done hundreds of times a day without incident.  There is still a whole different feeling when is it is your child and you already know his neuro system is challenged.

Watching him wrestling and thrash in a semi conscious state is awful.  Where's my kid who was telling me all about the Legos he wants for Christmas?  To take him home in the car about as put together as a drunk 3 sheets to the wind is nerve wracking.  Paying attention to traffic, watching him flop around like a newborn puppy and prayer that he doesn't vomit, pretty much saps all my mental capacity.

He made it until we were 200 yards from home.  And then despite the zofran,  his little 45lb body was heaving the mere 150 calories I was able to get into him.   Poor kid.  Hopefully an afternoon on the couch perusing the plethora of catalogs promising holiday delights will help him regain his balance.   Mine too.
